Our Blue Devil Guarantee

Have you worked hard in high school to keep your GPA high and crush the ACT? You deserve some recognition for that.

That’s why we’ve put together our Blue Devil Guarantee. Starting in fall 2019, every eligible new freshman will automatically receive one of these scholarships when they come to Stout.

Promising Scholarship | $1,000

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • ACT composite score of 22-23
    or SAT total score of 1100-1150
  • Renewable for one year ($1,000)

 

Bowman Hall

Polytechnic Scholarship | $2,000

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.33 or higher
  • ACT composite score of 24-26 
    or SAT total score of 1160-1250
  • Renewable for one year ($2,000)

Chancellor's Scholarship | $3,000

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.67 or higher
  • ACT composite score of 27 or higher 
    or SAT total score of at least 1260
  • Renewable for one year ($3,000)

 

To qualify for any of the three Blue Devil Guarantee scholarships, you must be a new freshman student admitted to UW-Stout by the first Monday in February for the fall semester. Any updated credentials must be received no later than March 15th.

Additional Scholarships

For incoming students, these scholarships require that you interview or submit an application in addition to meeting certain eligibility criteria.

Stout Scholars | $5,000 (renewal option)

The selective Stout Scholars Scholarship is awarded to just three outstanding students! You are eligible if you meet these criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.67 or higher
  • ACT composite score of 27 or higher 
    or SAT total score of at least 1260
  • New freshman student admitted to UW-Stout for fall semester by the first Monday in January

Students who meet these requirements will be invited to campus to interview and attend Stout Scholars Day. Students will be invited via email.

This scholarship is renewable for an additional three years ($5,000 per year) as long as the student maintains eligibility, for a total value of $20,000.

Honors College Scholarship | $1,000 (renewal option)

This is a $1,000 scholarship for select freshmen entering the Honors College. You are eligible for this scholarship if you meet these criteria: 

  • ACT composite score of 24 or higher
    or SAT total score of 1160 or higher
  • Rank in the top 25% of graduating class (or if your high school does not rank, earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher)
  • Incoming freshman of any major for the fall semester
  • Admitted to UW-Stout and successful completion of the Honors College Application by the first Monday in February
  • Complete the Foundation Scholarship Application by the first Monday in February.

15 scholarships are available. Each scholarship is renewable for an additional three years ($1,000 per year) as long as the student maintains eligibility, for a total package of $4,000.

Transfer Student Scholarship | $1,000 - $2,500

You are eligible for a Transfer Student Scholarship if you meet these criteria:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher from your previous institution
  • Must have a declared major in a UW-Stout undergraduate program (customized instruction students do not qualify)
  • Transferring a minimum of 24 credits, but no more than 90 credits
  • Admitted to UW-Stout by June 1, 2018 with final transcripts due by June 8, 2018
  • Completed your FAFSA

Of the $30,000 available for these scholarships, $20,000 will be awarded on a financial-need basis, and $10,000 will be awarded based on merit.

Each recipient will receive between $1,000 and $2,500, with half the amount awarded in the fall semester and half in the spring semester. We will notify recipients by mail, email, and as a part of your financial aid package sent out in late July.

Any scholarship money not distributed spring semester will be distributed using the same criteria for spring admitted students at half the normally awarded amount.

Multicultural Student Scholarships | $2,500 (renewal option)

You are eligible for the Multicultural Student Scholarship if you meet these criteria: 

  • Designated American minority (African American, American Indian, Hispanic or Asian)
  • United States citizen or permanent resident
  • Minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be accepted and planning to enroll at UW-Stout as a first-year, full-time, degree-seeking student for the fall semester
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, employment, extracurricular, or other activities
  • Financial need may be considered with FAFSA application

This process is competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Awards consist of a four-year scholarship for a total value of $10,000. Recipients will receive $2,500 per year for up to four years, as long as the student maintains continued eligibility requirements:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Earn a minimum of 24 credits per year
  • Meet with Multicultural Student Services staff at least once each semester
  • Participate in four Multicultural Student Services approved/sponsored activities each semester
  • Complete a financial literacy component each semester
