Artist in Residence – Melissa Lackey and Emily Gordon

Open: April 22nd - August 1st 2019
Reception: April 25th 5-7pm

Focusing on the deterritorialization and displacement of social and political structures, Emily Gordon has crafted her work in unified clay, water, plastic troughs, and several other mediums. Her works aim to show her self-awareness in society.  How human interaction has caused conversation of feminism, nonbinary and binary gender ideals for equality, and how she wishes to remain in a social domain.

Melissa Lackey believes time is not linear. She believes photography is the primary reference to memories. In her pieces she destroyed pieces of the original to change the association of the memory. Decay of memories and time became of her primary focus for her works. With the use of digital image transfers and slide projection to address elements of time that exist beyond that of cause and effect.
